Why these places?
I chose these places first of all because I think they are impressive in their own right, they are blended in a beautiful natural surroundings, and provide a glimpse into the side of the history and present that should not be overlooked.
I'll deal mostly with the ex-YU period and monuments since that part of the history is a huge blind spot. Getting to know Knin through the fortress and Kralj Zvonimir without knowing anything about ex-YU period is like getting to know someone's family through their ancestors without meeting their parents. That is an immediate history of the town, and most of the buildings you'll see in Knin, as well as the bus station or the railway station you might arrive at, were all built while Croatia was a part of Yugoslavia. Even though there are clear and objective indicators that it was a prosperous time, you won't find a museum or a place in the museum in town that deals with this side of the Knin's past.
