Knin Transportation Info

In 2025 transportation options in Knin will be much more diverse than during the previous years
Parking Space in Downtown Knin

If you're coming with your own car, finding a parking space in Knin is becoming increasingly challenging even outside the peak season in summer. You should also have that in mind when booking accommodation, since many buildings and houses downtown have this issue.

Railway-Zagreb, Split

For the detailed timetable go to https://knavigator.info/knin-railway-station

Knin used to be a major railway hub during the ex-YU era, but the railroad had been mostly devastated during and after the war in the '90s.

This is the Croatian Railways website https://prodaja.hzpp.hr/en where you can find info about destinations and tickets. Also there is a schedule on this page.

Zagreb and Split are some of the options but the journeys are slow and trains can be late. On the other hand you'll be traveling through some incredible scenery, especially if you go from Zagreb, so if you're not in a hurry I would highly recommend it.

Rent-a-car

A local business is advertising around town with the decal, I believe it's called Focus, but since there is more than one FB page and name related to this business it's best to google them, I'm not sure which one will be active at the time of your interest.

Vans and Buses for Rent

If you travel in a larger group the local tourist agency Igana provides organized transportation and owns a fleet of buses and vans for rent, you can find the contact here https://www.facebook.com/iganapromet/, so you can get in touch with them and see if you can make an arrangement.

Rent-a -bike

Try contacting the local bike club https://adrionoros.hr for more information.

Knin Bus Station

For more details you can see the next page https://knavigator.info/knin-bus-station

Regional Buses (vans)

Regional buses were introduced in 2024., connecting Knin with the surrounding areas.

You can find the timetable on this page which is currently only in Croatian but if you know the names of the places it's still easy to follow https://sikbus.hr .

There are lines to Šibenik and Zadar, but not Split. These are vans, not buses, so capacity is limited.

National and International Busses- Departures from the Knin Bus Station

The bus station doesn't have a web page yet, and the departures are posted in Croatian at the entrance of the small station building as in this picture. Don't be confused if the names of the companies are the approximations of their actual names (as with Euroturist, which is actually Eurotours). Here's the list of the days of the week in Croatian and English below. The time and day of the departures are accurate. It's always best to buy tickets ahead and communicate directly with the bus companies.

As you can see there are daily departures to Zagreb, Belgrade, and Sinj, so if you want to go there or to some other places on the route you should contact the company and check the itinerary.

Transportation to Zagreb and Sinj are organized by Flixbus daily, they're a global company and you can find all the info you need online. Čupić bus company organizes transportation to Zagreb on some days, they're a local company, no website, but they have FB page with another company, Ines tours, so you can find their phone number there, at the moment t's listed in the posts and not among contact info https://www.facebook.com/people/AP-Čupić-Ines-Tours/100006319901722 .

There are international departures for 2 major cities in neighboring Serbia. Companies that organize transportation to Belgrade are Lasta/ APP Požega (aka Arriva) partnership, BS Tours, and Eurotours. You can buy tickets or check itinerary online, for all except Eurotours. The Eurotours is also specific because the Belgrade line is at the same time Novi Sad line.

These are all night buses. Most of them go through Korenica, the place closest to the Plitvice national park on their way to Serbia. On the return trip from Serbia their last stops are Split or Makarska so you can catch the bus in Knin in the early morning hours if you plan to go to some of the places on that side of the coast.
