This page is intended to be partly a postcard for my friends who live in different countries around the world, and partly a guide for other like minded people and solo travelers who might visit Knin some day.
The easy answer to the question why visit Knin is above all its unique position and nature. The proximity of both sea and mountains, as well as caves and lakes, make it a rare jewel on the global scale.
When it comes to history and culture, that part is interesting as well as complicated. As a foreigner I believe there are some less known places that are unique as well as representative of the past and the present of the region.
The web pages about Knin offer accurate but often quite reduced contents. I would recommend anyone to visit them too, as you can find useful data about the accommodations, restaurants, and the activities that you can engage in while in town, as well as some info about the history of Knin and its surroundings.
Here I do my best to fill in some of the blanks. I don't focus on the information that you can find on some other sites, though I sometimes mention them as a reference.
The idea here is to provide some insights from my perspective for my friends or anyone who's interested in less advertised part of the history, as well as to help with some useful tips. I believe anyone can come to visit Knin without any special arrangements, it's well connected with the rest of Croatia, you have plenty of info online about accommodation and you don't need a guide to visit any of the places I mention here.
So feel free to cherry pick the info you need and skip anything you think is not for you.
